Over in Fort Worth, the Kimbell and the Modern sit across a lawn from each other in the Cultural District. Kimbell's permanent collection is free, the Kimbell stays open late on Fridays, and Café Modern overlooks a reflecting pond. A coffee date with a water view, indoors, in August? That's not a date idea, that's a survival strategy that happens to be romantic.

Want the museum but make it a party? The Perot Museum's adult after-hours nights (think "Thursdays on Tap," around $27 a person) hand you cocktails, live music, food trucks, and the whole place without the field-trip crowds. This is the part where I tell you the secret weapon: Globe Life Field in Arlington has a retractable roof and full A/C. So a Rangers game is technically an "outdoor summer date" that is, in practice, a comfortable 72 degrees. The Orioles series rolls through August 7–9, with the Nationals (Aug 18–20) and an Oakland series starting Aug 31. Confirm first-pitch times, share an absurd amount of ballpark food, and let the occasional fireworks night do your romantic-gesture homework for you.

Deep Ellum (Dallas): louder, edgier, murals everywhere. Perfect when you want movement and noise instead of an intense across-the-table stare-off.
Sundance Square (downtown Fort Worth): 35 restored blocks around a fountain. Steakhouse to jazz lounge to nightcap, entirely walkable.
Magnolia Avenue (Fort Worth's Near Southside): the locals' answer to Sundance — indie eateries, patios, a younger foodie crowd.

Craving something unmistakably Texan? The Fort Worth Stockyards deliver longhorn cattle drives, honky-tonks (Billy Bob's, the literal largest), and BBQ — great for a daytime-into-evening outing with built-in things to react to. For free and dramatic, the Fort Worth Water Gardens at dusk are a quick, weirdly cinematic stop you can bolt onto dinner.
